Spring flowers are everywhere and Easter is on the horizon! As the cold weather recedes we tend to start doing more driving and taking longer trips, not to mention that no one knows what will happen with Brexit in the coming months and if that will affect car running costs, so it’s probably a really good time to give your car a thorough check for faults and give it a general Spring clean/ maintenance overhaul for that reason too. We will certainly be doing the same for our mobile repair and replacement vehicles here at Strathclyde Windscreens.
Following on from last week, here are our next Spring Car Maintenance top 3 tips!
- Seasonal changes to your emergency kit. If you follow our blog and advice, you may have stocked your car with a winter emergency kit! But now is probably the time to swap some of those things out for warmer weather purposes. You may want to get rid of the blanket and snow shovel and replace it with a windscreen sun shield for instance, to help keep your car cooler and add extra bottles of water for hot days.
- Check your tire pressure and tread, just like windscreen glass, tire rubber expands and contracts in temperature fluctuations, so your tires might need a bit more air now. And if we have some heavy rain storms in the coming months, as we often do this time of year, then you will need adequate tread on your tires for safe braking on wet roads.
- Check your wiper blades. Similar to the issues with wiper fluid, yoru wiper blades have also been busy over winter. Worn down wiper blades can fail to clean your windscreen effectively, but worse still can actually damage your windscreen by scratching them and damaging and protecting service.
