Windscreens in modern cars are made of “safety glass”. Now this doesn’t mean that the glass is unbreakable or unlikely to shatter, in the case of vandalism or collision it very well might still shatter. However the pieces of glass will be small, less sharp and much less likely to cause serious injury. Visibility is also an important aspect of safety, so chips and cracks in your windscreen can not only reduce the overall safety of your car but contribute to accidents via reduced visibility. Not to mention that they can also see you fall foul of the law. Depending on the extent and location of the damage, under section 40 of the Road Traffic Act, it’s an offense to drive a vehicle considered to be in a dangerous condition which could mean a fixed penalty of 3 points on your licence and a fine.

The good news is, that the majority of windscreen damage is solved with a very cost effective repair and does not necessitate a full replacement. Although at Strathclyde Windscreens, we are pretty proud of our great value replacement prices too. With our team of mobile technicians, we aim to make windscreen damage a minor inconvenience, resolved with minimal fuss and expense to you.
