So here we are at the start of 2019 and let’s start off by acknowledging the likelihood that many of us will have over done it over the festive period and now at the beginning of January…thinking about a few New Years Resolutions to help us recover from the excesses (whether they be food, drink or credit card hangovers)!

Unfortunately, Strathclyde Windscreens can’t help you with mulled wine induced liver damage or extra Christmas weight gain, but luckily we can help, at least a little, with the financial hangover. If you do suffer windscreen damage then Strathclyde will be guaranteed to give you the best price and quality workmanship around. Our crack and chip repair work in second to none and our replacement are top of the game, meeting all regulations and customer expectations. But we’d also like to offer a few offer a few other tips on how you can get through a financially tight January;

Top tips for January financial blues

  • Don’t put your head in the sand and hope things will improve on their own. It’s always best to face finances head on. As the credit card statements come in, take a frank look at the impact they will have on your finances and make a plan. The sooner the better. There may even be deals around this time of year, where you can move a balance to 0% ratel. But set out a new budget to pay that balance off, rather than spending the money saved on interest.
  • Make a financial plan where you can ring fence money for the future. Even saving small amounts every month can be helpful when unexpected bill or costs occur.
  • Go through your finances with a fine tooth comb to see where you could be making savings. Can you switch to better deals…maybe a more competitive gas and electric company? Be honest about what you spend and what you can make economies on. We all need to tighten our belts in January!
  • Think about habits and practices that can actually prevent high cost shocks. The easiest examples of this are home and car maintenance. Developing regular habits to inspect your car and home, and then undertaken minor but regular maintenance issues can save you a lot of money down the line.
