Phew what a week! Absolute transport carnage across Scotland as the weather turned positively Siberian. Public transport was a mess and we even heard about minimum waits for a taxi at 3 hours and over. For those of you who braved their cars, I hope you found last weeks blog helpful and you managed to stock up and prepare with the essential winter weather car kit?
Driving conditions were amongst the worst we’ve faced in years and we even had a weather Red Alert. But Strathclyde Windscreens are a hardy bunch, and many of our staff managed to get to work and keep up with the cracked and chipped windscreens repairs that invariably occur in this awful weather. Although as a general rule, everyone is having to wait a little bit longer than usual with journeys taking that much longer. Take our advice though, avoid the roads if you can!
If you do have to go out there, here is some things to bear in mind for driving in Strathclyde;
- Maintain increased stopping distance
- Plan for increased journey time
- Be aware of reduced visibility
- Think about obstructions on the road maybe even abandoned vehicles
- Much higher risk of ice patches
- Possible snow gate closures
- Remember that lane markings will be obscured
Especially if you live in some of the worst affected areas;
- East Dunbartonshire
- North Lanarkshire
- South Lanarkshire
- Argyll and Bute
- East Renfrewshire
- Glasgow
- Inverclyde
- Renfrewshire
- West Dunbartonshire
- East Ayrshire
- North Ayrshire
- South Ayrshire
