How has your 2018 been so far? Relieved that the kids are back at school? Budgeting for how to clear the Xmas spend on the credit card? Planning your summer holiday? How about those resolutions? At Strathclyde Windscreens we set some achievable and practical New Year’s resolutions for drivers and generally, if we can keep up with those new resolutions for the first 4-6 weeks or so, we stand a good chance of making them a long term habits.

So how are your car resolutions going? Don’t tell us you’ve forgotten already?!

Okay, well here’s a quick reminder of 5 good car habits to save yourself time and money on your car, in 2018;

Cleanliness

Take the rubbish out of your car after a drive. And don’t forget, the most crucial part to keep clean…your windscreens! Dirty windscreens can reduce visibility so either get a regular clean at a carwash or valet. If money is tight, you can even just keep a spray or sports water bottle with some diluted washing up liquid in it and then just use a screen wiper or cloth when needed.

Windscreens

Give your windscreens a thorough look over every week. If you see any crack of chips, get them repaired or replaced as soon as possible. Minor cracks or chips are much cheaper to fix than after it has been left to deteriorate (which can happen quickly in bad weather). And don’t forget, Strathclyde Windscreens take calls 247 and even have a mobile service so can help with your windscreens whenever and wherever you are in Scotland.

Oil

Changing your oil every 3-5 months is excellent for your car, and will really save on maintenance costs.

Tyres

Just remember to cast your eyes over them once a week, if you can see a tire losing air, or its condition deteriorating, you can arrange maintenance or replacement in good time, and not get caught out with a tyre bursting, flat or some other inconvenience when you are driving home late at night, or when you are trying to get somewhere urgently (we’ve all been there!)

Ease up on the pedals!

Go gently on your acceleration and braking and your car will require part replacements less often.
