  • Windscreen issues can affect your MOT. Cracks or chips, depending on location can sometimes lead to an MOT fail. Anything bigger than 10mm in the drivers’ line of vision or 40mm anywhere else in the area within the wiper blade radius is a fail. In addition, missing or non-functioning wiper blades, insufficient wiper liquid or basically, anything that leads to an inability to clear the windscreen and provide sufficient clear vision for driving can lead to MOT fail.
  • .The Highway Code requires clear driver vision and this also applies to cracks that obscure a drivers view. If you are driving with a substantial crack or chip on your windscreen this can even lead to a 1000 fine! So if you do suffer damage in that area, get a repair or replacement straight away
  • Windscreens provide part of the safety features of any car and are part of the overall structure and integrity of your vehicle. Furthermore, some of your cars other safety features interact with your windscreen. Some airbags, for instance, are designed to fill and bounce off the windscreen to achieve the correct protective position.
  • ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) require recalibrating if there is a windscreen replacement and even sometimes, other types of damage that nudge the windscreen alignment out.
